Tamar Weill - Professional Director

Tamar Weill is a senior lecturer at the Hebrew University’s School for Hebrew Studies for Foreign Students, and has also served as the director of the pre-academic program for new immigrants. Tamar has been involved, as a linguistics counselor, with the Ministry of Education in France and is a member of the research team at the School of Education in Israel. She has co-authored several books as well as academic articles focusing on educational methods for Hebrew language instruction.

Ohad Cohen - Professional Director

Dr. Ohad Cohen is a highly-skilled educator and linguist with ten years of teaching experience. In 2008 he completed his PhD on the Verbal Tense System in Late Biblical Hebrew Prose at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After receiving his PhD he held a research fellowship at the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations (NELC), Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ohad is the winner of 5 awards for teaching excellence at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and has received several research grants and prizes. Ohad’s passion for the Hebrew language is a driving force behind the ClassicalHebrew.com commitment to quality programs.

Dr. Lihi Yariv-Laor - Academic Manager

Dr. Lihi Yariv-Laor is a leading linguist and sinologist, with thirty years of experience teaching Chinese as a foreign language to thousands of students around the world. Dr. Yariv-Laor was awarded a Ph.D. in Chinese linguistics from the Sorbonne in Paris. She is the author of numerous academic articles on the subject of Modern Chinese syntax and Chinese translations of the Bible. In 2003, her book entitled Modern Chinese Grammar was published by Magnes Press. Dr. Yariv-Laor has devoted her academic career and professional life to the research and teaching of Chinese language and linguistics.

Aviya Feldman-Liu - Academic Manager

Aviya Feldman-Liu is a highly skilled Chinese teacher with many years of experience from around the globe. Her education includes a Masters degree in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from the National Taiwan Normal University. Her specific academic interest focused on the role of computers in language learning, and she has extensive international professional experience as a Chinese translator and cross-cultural business consultant to leading firms and organizations who wished to expand their businesses to China. Aviya Feldman-Liu is fluent in both Chinese and English, and is the recipient of numerous academic scholarships, including an MA scholarship granted by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, Republic of China.

Yocheved Geiger - Academic Manager

Yocheved Geiger taught and served as the head of the English Department at the Pre-Academic Centre of The Hebrew University, Jerusalem for 30 years. In 2001 she created the English Department at Hadassah College, and has been its head ever since. Yocheved’s professional experience includes teaching English for Academic Purposes, teacher training on higher education levels, material and syllabus development, teaching Hebrew abroad, and various managerial positions. Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate in English Literature and French Culture and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics, with a specialty in teaching English as a Foreign Language from the University of Reading in Britain. While she was a visiting researcher, at the Department of Cognitive Psychology at Yale University she developed programs for improving higher cognitive skills through foreign language learning. Yocheved wrote several text books for English as a foreign language and lectured in professional conferences on various topics related to her field of expertise – academic English for natural sciences, English testing, and the teaching of grammar as a tool in enhancing reading comprehension in academic studies.
